MEET ANDY PITTMAN
Andy Pittman will fight to put people ahead of politics and restore common sense to the House of Delegates. As a Norfolk native, lifelong resident and civic leader (currently serving his third term as President of the Ocean View Civic League), Andy understands what matters most to our community. Andy will work hard to keep our neighborhoods safe, make our economy strong, put parents in charge of their children’s education, and protect our Bay.
Andy is the first in his immediate family to graduate college. Having grown up in a single family household with a mentally and physically challenged sibling, he developed a deep appreciation and understanding of the need to be tolerant of others with differences, and to make sure they are included in the community. After his parents separated when he was just thirteen years old, Andy helped his mother care for his mentally and physically disabled sister. Caring for them he experienced, both firsthand and through their eyes, the pain of ostracization and exclusion just for being different from the accepted norm. These experiences instilled in Andy a lifelong lesson of the importance of treating everyone with decency and respect, regardless of whether they are different physically or hold differing views or opinions. This forms the foundation of his core belief that we must always put people first, and we must always put people over politics.
Andy Pittman lives in the heart of Ocean View with his wife, Jessica, and three young children. Andy stayed in the Commonwealth of Virginia for his education, graduating from Norfolk Christian High School, James Madison University, and Washington & Lee School of Law.
Experience Matters
Andy has served as an attorney at every level of government – federal, state, and local – including as a law clerk to the U.S. District Court in Norfolk and the Virginia Supreme Court, as well as an Associate City Attorney. He also has extensive experience in private practice as a civil litigator.
Andy will use his skills and expertise as an experienced attorney to craft meaningful legislation that safeguards our liberties and while making Virginia a better place to live, work, and raise our families.
